The fiction found here opens with first lines from a famous book in the public domain. The following lines build on text suggested by the open-source large language model GPT-Neo. In most cases, GPT-Neo built on a mashup of those first lines and a short plot synopsis. The catch? The synopsis and opening lines come from different works, producing a menagerie of narrative chimera.
