Rachel Kowalsky is a Guatemalan and Ashkenazi author, essayist and  pediatric emergency physician. She writes about human connection, identity, and health equity, and teaches health humanities at Weill Cornell Medicine in NYC.  Her work in a New York City ER constantly demonstrates the tenacity and vulnerability of human life.
