Laurie VanBalen is a visual artist from central Ohio. She works primarily with oil paints and chalk pastels. Her career in the arts has included commissions, book illustration, design, murals and theatre backdrops. She is the founder and director of Art Soup — providing creative programs for schools, libraries and community centers, in addition to lessons for all ages from her Art Soup studio.
