Providing direct employment to almost 60% of Bhutan’s population, the agriculture sector continues to be a mainstay of the Bhutanese economy. Nevertheless, production challenges associated with quality and quantity, limited land and yield, water scarcity and loss of crops to wildlife continue to impinge on an already challenged sector.
