Artist, sculptor and teacher. Born in Cape Town, South Africa in 1935, he studied and lectured at the Michaelis School of Fine Art. 1973 he emigrated to Germany and worked as an art teacher in Lingen and Osnabrück. Throughout his life Wake had many solo exhibitions for which he created sculptures, installations and performances. His preferred media were steel, wood, fabric and paper, as well as objects and tied found objects. Richard Wake died at the age of 80 in Osnabrück in 2016.
