Friends of Wakefield’s Northeast Metro Tech (NEMT) Forest is documenting the biodiversity and ecological importance of this oak, pine and hickory rock outcrop ecosystem, free of invasive species, with abundant surface water including vernal pools, priority habitat for endangered species and nesting and migrating birds, that is in danger of being needlessly destroyed for the new vocational school.
