Dave grew up on a small farm/ranch near Lexington, Nebraska. Growing up, he spent every waking moment he could outside; riding horses, working cows, caring for pets and helping his dad farm. In 1976, Dave graduated from Kansas State University with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Although the sciences were his main concentration, art was always something he found intriguing. <br><br>In 2003, Dave attended Sculpture in the Park in Loveland, Colorado. From that point on he was hooked on sculpt
