I’m a freelance journalist. I've reported from Europe, South America and North Africa, and my work has been published by the BBC, The Economist, the Financial Times and The Guardian. In 2019 I came runner-up in the Bodley Head / Financial Times Essay Prize; in 2020 I won the Rupert Cornwell Prize for young correspondents. Before all that, I studied microbiology and immunology.
