Simon Olsen is a contemporary New Zealand oil painter. His mission is to create art with wonder and empathy. He explores philosophical, spiritual and phycological concepts through bold colour, contrast, gesture, mark‑making, layered impasto and drip painting. He is drawn to the tension between what is beautiful or panful, miraculous or mundane, and how this can hinge on perspective or acceptance.
