All cells in the human body are dependent on oxygen supply for sustained metabolism. Oxygen molecules binds to hemoglobin in the lungs (lung function), transported through the blood stream with the pressure generated by the heart (heart function) and delivered from the capillaries to the cells in the tissues (microvascular function).
