Baba G.T. Lye is a doyen of Peranakan theatre and wayang Peranakan practitioner with over four decades of experience. He has written plays, coached young actors, and performed in 23 wayang Peranakkan plays - most notably as a female character. In 2020, he was recognised as a Steward of Singapore's Intangible Cultural Heritage by the National Heritage Board.
