Elsa James is a Black British multidisciplinary artist based in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. Her research-led practice explores Black liberation, speculative reimagining and critical hope. As a Windrush descendant, she engages diasporic histories of migration, displacement and belonging. Working across moving image, performance, text, neon, collage and sound, her work weaves archival fragments, embodied memory and contemporary Black life into layered contemporary art.
