I am an assistant professor in computational media and design at MIT. At MIT, I have a joint appointment between the Schwarzman College of Computing and Comparative Media Studies / Writing, where I am also the KDD Career Development Professor in Communications and Technology. My work investigates what I call the "the life-cycle of data representations," or the process by which datasets are curated, cleaned, visualized, circulated, and manipulated. In other words, I think about a wide scope of th
