Advances in electrophysiology catheters have historically been associated with additional functionality being built in to the electrode tip. The fundamental design of electrophysiology catheters has not been radically changed since their inception, with the key constraint of a lack of available physical space within the catheter lumen restricting the number and complexity of technologies possible with existing catheters.
